Take-Out, Drive-Thru and Delivery Service Available to Guests
Today we are announcing significant measures to bolster national efforts to contain COVID-19 and protect and support restaurant guests, team members and the public in Canada. Tim Hortons restaurants are gathering places for our communities across the country. As Canada’s leading restaurant brand, we have a responsibility not only to serve our guests – but to protect them and our team members during this uncertain time.
Starting tomorrow, March 17, 2020, all Tim Hortons restaurants will focus on take-out, drive-thru and delivery service (where available) and will close all dining room seating in most locations until further notice. This is being done to contribute to social distancing that has been called for by public health officials. More information will be shared shortly about what this means for restaurant operational procedures.
These measures will help us make a difference for the health and safety of the people we love, and the communities we live in and care deeply about, during this public health crisis.

An Open Letter to Tim Hortons Team Members
We take our responsibility to Tim Hortons guests and team members across Canada very seriously. It is important for all of us to follow the advice of our public health officials especially around staying home if you are showing symptoms of COVID-19.
There is a lot of misinformation circulating and we want to make this very clear to all Tim Hortons team members and guests.
We have been working with our 1,500 restaurant owners in Canada to follow the advice of their local public health authorities in all cases – including not requiring a doctor’s note when an employee reports in sick.
Our policy is clear. Team members should always stay home if they are sick. If team members have questions, please contact us at TeamTimHortons@timhortons.com.
During this pandemic, we are working hard to do the right thing for the communities we live and work in.
As information and guidance from public health officials changes, we will reassess and change our procedures and protocols accordingly.

A Letter to Guests from Axel Schwan
As Canada’s leading restaurant brand, we take our responsibility to the health and safety of you – our guest – team members and restaurant owners very seriously. Over the last few weeks, we have been closely monitoring the evolving health situation and have been working to ensure that we are keeping your interests at the heart of every decision we make and everything we do.
I wanted to reach out to share an update on what the Tim Hortons® team is doing to help keep you safe when you visit us.
Health and Safety: We have robust cleaning and sanitation procedures in place at restaurants. Team members regularly wash their hands – and always do so when switching tasks – and frequently wipe down pin-pads, door handles, tables, chairs and surfaces. In recent weeks, we have also increased how often we clean and sanitize and are even temporarily pausing accepting reusable cups in restaurants to further improve safety.
Teamwork: We are working hard with our amazing restaurant owners and their team members to always do the right thing for you. We have been Canada’s favourite coffee for over 55 years because you trust that we will do the right thing. We want you to know that we will always strive to do the right thing.
Experts: We are connected with experts and are regularly taking advice on health and safety from public health officials. As information and guidance from public health officials changes, we will reassess and change our procedures and protocols accordingly.
Roll Up The Rim: For the first time in 35 years we made changes to our Roll Up The Rim contest. It was an incredibly tough decision, however we believe eliminating paper Roll Up The Rim cups was the right thing for guests and team members. You can play Roll Up The Rim digitally by scanning your Tims RewardsTM card and rolling up the rim on the Tim Hortons app or at timhortons.ca/roll-up-the-rim and everyone has the chance to instantly win a hot beverage in restaurant.
Thank you for your incredible loyalty. As this situation evolves, we will continue to be prudent and will never compromise on doing the right thing for you, the 100,000 Tim Hortons team members from coast-to-coast and the communities we live and work in across the country we call home. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Many thanks,
Axel Schwan
President Tim Hortons Canada
